  2. I think the food pyramid is a great idea to teach the children! Your concept map looks good and for an assignment you could work with them on creating their own pyramid or plates to keep so they can have the portions with them.

  7. I love the concept. Most young children only know what fast food is and don't eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. Mississippi is the fatest state and we need to educate our children so that we can change this.

  10. This is VERY important because we have one of the most obese states in the country. Students should know how to maintain their weight and how to eat healthy to better their future. For fun the class can have a healthy party and bring healthy food into the classroom one Friday. I always loved eating in class.

  11. You picked a great topic. Our state is the number state for obesity. This is a subject that should be taken seriously and be taught to all children. I love the food plate, I have never seen that. You did a great job on your map. It is very colorful and you chose great pictures. Maybe you could bring in a snack while you were teaching this lesson. You could pick a snack that taste good but is a healthy snack for them. Great job!

  13. I believe that every elementary school student should know the food prymaid. This is a very important topic because Mississippi is the fattest state in the United States. Elementary school students should learn to start making better choices at home and at school. I would definitely, without a doubt in my mind, teach this to my class. I really like the colors and the layout of the concept map. I especially like how the food plate link. It is very educational.

  17. Britney, I really like this concept map. It is a great thing to teach the children especially in the state of Mississippi because we are the most obese state. I think you could have each child's parent prepare a healthy snack each day to bring and that could be one hands on activity the kids could make a snack themselves. I also love the look of your map! Excellent job!
